Using the Affordable/Accessible Housing Registry: |
-
The Affordable/Accessible Housing Registry has been created under the
Nursing Facility Transition Grant or NFTG (Grant #18-P91524 from the U.S.
Department of Health and Human Services, Center for Medicare and Medicaid
Services). The Nursing Facility Transition Grant's purpose is to
assist at least 150 disabled individuals residing in Maryland's nursing
facilities, over a three-year period, in transitioning back into their
communities and implement strategies to change policies and regulations to
increase accessible and affordable housing in Maryland. For further details
regarding Maryland's Nursing Facility Transition Grant Program, please click
on the Maryland Department of Human Resource's Office of Personal Assistance Services
-
The purpose of the Affordable/Accessible Housing Registry is to
assist in the identification of community-based housing in Maryland that is
affordable and/or accessible. The inclusion of a property in the
Affordable/Accessible Housing Registry is solely based on its classification as
providing affordable and/or accessible housing opportunities.
-
In keeping with the NFTG objective of promoting community based
living, the properties listed contain family, individual, and elderly/disabled
community based housing opportunities throughout the State.
-
The heading "Units" gives the specific number of
units in a property. This number does not reflect availability of units.
-
The number of accessible units, shown under the heading "Accessible
Units", has been calculated based on HUD regulations of Section
504/24 CFR 8 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (5% of totals units are to be
mobility accessible). This regulation is limited only to those developments
having received financial assistance from HUD programs. Henceforth, the number
of accessible units stated is approximate.
-
Those developments with an (HA) listed beside the
address should be contacted directly through the corresponding HA. Click the
following links for addresses and phone numbers of
Maryland's housing authorities/agencies, along with a listing of the
State's Centers for Independent Living (CILs).
